Speakers

Johnny Agresta

Mike Reed, a Walsh alum, came to speak to our class and had a great story.  Mike completed his MBA at Ashland University, and worked for Timken Company for 34 years as the purchasing manager for the company. Mike went on to tell us about what he did for the Timken Company and he also mention that he spent 650 million of the companies money. Mike is now retired from Timken and works for a private company. When Mike was at Timken and was going to a negotiation meeting he would ask who is coming, and is the person coming that can make a decision on the deal going to be at the meeting. He said to people I don’t have to like you but respect you. People will respect someone who works hard and is good at his/her job. Mike also gave us life tips, not just tips to becoming a business man but becoming a better individual. He talked to us about giving back and how that is the main part of life, he said volunteering is the rent you pay for taking up space on this earth. I learned a lot by listening to Mike talk. I plan on taking all the advice he has given me to use in the present day and the future.

Erica Molina

Erica Molina, also another Walsh alum, came in to speak to our class and I found it very interesting how she went to Glenn Oak, then to Walsh and when she graduated she worked right down the street from both Glenn Oak and Walsh. The majority of her life has been spent in Canton and on the same street. Erica started looking into startup companies and she found one in Utah. She was the third woman hired full time at this company. The startup company she works with is smart home technology for multi living home living, she said that she absolutely loves it there and she said that the company has come a long way and is close to getting out of the startup stage. Some key advice she gave is to network yourself, if you have their email then use it, Linkedin is also huge for networking and to find out a little more about the company that you’re looking into. It’s all about finding your dream job and loving what you do, if you don’t love what you do you wont be great at it.
